Open Letter to the Premier: The Future of Housing Supply is at Risk

CHBA BC and all eight of our local home building associations sent an open letter to Premier David Eby outlining urgent concerns about the future of housing supply.

From PST changes to building code implementation, pressure on the industry is building at exactly the wrong time. As building costs continue to compound, projects are being delayed or cancelled, putting B.C.’s housing supply at risk.

We are calling on the BC government to:

Reverse the PST expansion on professional services supporting housing delivery

Pause adoption of the 2025 National Model Codes, including reversing BC’s early adoption of lateral load provisions

If the goal is more housing, policy decisions need to align with that objective.
