The government relations portfolio plays an essential role in the success of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of BC and the residential construction industry. Together with our affiliated local associations and CHBA National body in Ottawa, we are strongly positioned to bring industry related concerns to the government on behalf of all members at the local, provincial and national levels.
Advocacy Update
In coordination with CHBA BC’s Government Relations Committee, we are tracking all advocacy and government relations activities and report on these efforts via direct member emails and our Advocacy Update newsletter.
In a rapidly changing and heavily regulated industry, staying up-to-date is essential. We are committed to providing you with timely insights and alerts to support your success.
Policy Priorities
CHBA BC and its members work actively towards improving housing affordability across the province by building more homes. To enable the building sector to build much-needed housing supply, CHBA BC advocates to government on behalf of members on the following policy priorities among others:
1. Reduce the Cost to Build Homes
2. Harmonize Step Codes
3. Streamline the Approvals Process
Current Issues
CHBA BC Government Relations Committee is actively engaged in many issues related to the residential construction industry.
Day at the Legislature
Delegates from all eight CHBA BC local associations visited Victoria for our Day at the Legislature on March 9-10, 2026.
This event was an opportunity for delegates from across the province to meet with key MLAs and Ministers to discuss what matters most to our members and to advocate for our policy priorities.
