COURSE OBJECTIVES AND OUTCOMES

Are you putting your business, employees or clients at risk? Do you have systems to mitigate risk and liability? This course will provide you the answers to your questions about contracts, construction and project risk, liability, holdbacks and other aspects of the law as it relates to construction and building projects and protecting your business in British Columbia:

  • Mitigate risk for construction contracts and projects;
  • Get the right insurance to protect your business and warranty your work;
  • Know what liabilities are assumed with home builder contracts;
  • Understand consequences for a lien, holdback or trust;
  • Clarify legal requirements in BC to operate your business.

COURSE FORMAT

  • Review all course materials in full.
  • Complete mandatory online chapter quiz questions and assignments.
  • Attend the in-class session, which is an instructor-led high level review of course materials.
  • Write an in-class final exam (an 80% passing mark on the final exam is required to successfully complete the course).
