Master Residential Builder

By earning the coveted Master Residential Builder designation, you can distinguish yourself as a highly dedicated professional and industry leader.

This certificate program is a powerful marketing tool, indicating to clients that they are choosing an expert with many years of proven experience and impressive dedication to ongoing learning and development.

Prerequisites for earning the Master Residential Builder designation:

 

Be employed by a member in good standing of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association.

Have a total of ten years’ experience in the residential construction industry, including five of which are at the management level.

Provide a recent reference letter from your home warranty provider.

Provide a total of three recent reference letters from clients, suppliers and/or subtrades.

Successfully complete the following courses with a minimum passing grade of 80%:

  • BC Building Code 2-part course
  • Project Management & Site Supervision
  • Building Science for New Homes
  • Service & Warranty
  • Financial Management
  • Construction Law
  • Business Planning & Management
  • Marketing & Project Sales
  • Communication & Negotiation
  • Leadership for Safety Excellence, which is offered by the BC Construction Safety Alliance.

 

Like with other CHBA BC designations, the Master Residential Builder designation is granted for a one-year period, after which you will receive an annual fee renewal notice.

 

 

School transcripts;

If you were in business for yourself, copies of building and occupancy permits; and/or

If you were employed, a letter from your employer. The letter should confirm the nature of the work, the address (if applicable), the timeframe that you were employed and your role on the job.

Membership with CHBA is a requirement for earning and maintaining a certificate.
