First-time Buyers GST Rebate Now in Effect

After an extensive and sustained advocacy by CHBA (including a letter written to the Government House Leader earlier this week to get through the last hurdle), Bill C-4, the legislation containing the revised GST rebate for first-time buyers, finally received Royal Assent.

First-time buyers can now officially access a full GST rebate on new homes under $1M and lowered for new homes between $1-1.5M. CHBA continues to advocate for an expansion of the rebate to all buyers of new homes and renovations that include an additional unit of housing.
