A Federal Mandate, a Provincial Priority: Solving B.C.'s Housing Challenges
On behalf of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of BC (CHBA BC), congratulations to all the new and returning British Columbia Members of Parliament. We look forward to a shared commitment to building more homes with the residential construction industry in B.C.
We call on the new government to work towards reducing red tape and unnecessary delays that drive up housing costs. Home prices in British Columbia continue to rise due to supply-demand imbalances, high development cost charges, and other factors influenced by all levels of government. Meanwhile, wages have not kept pace with rising housing costs.
By working together to address affordability challenges in B.C., we can help ensure young people and families have a fair chance to find a place to call home. Supporting housing solutions means strengthening our local communities, boosting economic competitiveness, and preparing the next generation of skilled tradespeople to build communities across the province.
With the election now complete, it’s time to get back to work on the housing crisis!
