Mandatory Certification Requirement for Asbestos Abatement in B.C.

CHBA BC is reminding our members that WorkSafeBC is implementing mandatory training and certification requirements for anyone doing asbestos abatement work in B.C., and employers that carry out asbestos abatement work for others will have to be licensed.

Starting January 1, 2024, anyone doing asbestos abatement work in B.C. will need to have certification that they have completed this training from an approved training provider.

WorkSafe BC has now announced the first list of approved training providers for asbestos abatement certification.

The list is current as of June 23, 2023, and will be updated regularly as additional training providers are approved. The list includes training providers in all regions of B.C. in addition to several online options.
