Industry Consultation Invitation - Labour market challenges facing B.C.
The Construction Industry Training Network (CITN) is pleased invite members of the Canadian Home Builders' Association to an industry consultation and working lunch to address labour market challenges facing British Columbia’s construction sector, taking place at the Delta Burnaby Hotel and Conference Centre on October 16 between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
The provincial government through the Labour Market Partnership Program has asked the CITN, of which the Independent Contractors and Businesses Association, Canadian Home Builders' Association of BC and B.C. Road Builders and Heavy Construction Association among others are founding members, to engage construction industry stakeholders to better understand the labour market challenges they face in British Columbia. The CITN has already identified some challenges including:
- Reduced/limited worker mobility.
- Issues faced by smaller employers in accessing government programs.
- A lack of information on training quality and effectiveness.
CHBA members may well face other issues that affect their ability to build great projects. The upcoming consultation is an opportunity to refine, validate and prioritize the issues that most need to be addressed, and create a common, industry-led basis for tackling them.
You will find background information on the CITN and this Labour Market Partnership initiative in the Background Document.
To Participate, please RSVP to CITN Coordinator Kerry Vital at kerry.vital@trainingnetwork.ca or 604-293-2339 by October 9.
