July 18, 2017. Burnaby, British Columbia – British Columbia’s 36th Premier John Horgan and the new provincial cabinet were sworn in this afternoon at Government House in Victoria.
The Hon. Selina Robinson, representative for Coquitlam-Maillardville, was sworn in as the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing.
“I would like to congratulate the Hon. Selina Robinson on her appointment as Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing,” says CHBA BC Chief Executive Officer Neil Moody. “We are pleased by this decision to create a dedicated housing ministry, paired with municipal issues, which formally recognizes housing as a priority sector for British Columbia.”
The residential construction industry represents over 150,000 on and off-site jobs across the province, and is one of the largest employers in the province.
“Protecting housing affordability is an important issue to British Columbians, and will be no easy task. We look forward to providing the industry perspective on behalf of home builders across the province and working collaboratively with Minister Robinson on this key issue.”
