Burnaby (March 11, 2016) – Over 100 builders from across British Columbia participated in the Canadian Home Builders' Association of BC’s (CHBA BC) 2nd Builder Super Week Conference on March 8-10, 2016, in Vancouver. This event featured three days of seminars and courses that qualified for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points as required by the Homeowner Protection Office (HPO) under the new builder licensing requirements.
That same week, CHBA BC also held the Association’s 2016 Winter Provincial Meetings. This included the Annual General Meeting, the five committee meetings, and the Association Awards and President’s Night dinner to honour the outgoing President, Simon Howse.
The week concluded with the 24th Annual Georgie Awards Gala on Friday March 11 that was attended by more than 625 CHBA BC members and guests.
At the Annual General Meeting, members elected the Board of Directors who will govern the association for the next year. Simon Howse became the CHBA BC Past President, and Gordon Bliss was elected as the new President. Other officer positions include; Lynn Harrison as 1st Vice-President, Blake Hudema as Secretary/Treasurer and Michael Brar as 2nd Vice President.
The provincial meetings provided an opportunity for the new Board to plan for the year ahead. “We accomplished a lot this past year and the association is well positioned and in good financial condition,” said CEO Neil Moody. “Overall membership increased five percent and we expect another year of positive growth.”
Outgoing CHBA BC Treasurer Michael Delich, PEng., stated in his annual Treasurer’s Report that, “…the Association continues to manage member finances wisely with prudent discipline. The organization has a strong balance sheet and achieved a positive year-end surplus.”
