Description
COURSE OBJECTIVES AND OUTCOMES
The goal of this course is to provide Builders information needed to successfully build BC Energy Step Code compliant Part 9 New Homes in British Columbia.
**Note, participants in this course are expected to have a general understanding of the BC Building Code.
Course topics include:
- Module 1: Understanding the BC Energy Step Code, its purpose, and how it can be implemented;
- Module 2: Identifying the different BC Energy Step Code performance metrics, and how new home components affect home performance values;
- Module 3: Reviewing design considerations that may be required when building a new home, and how they affect the performance metrics listed in the Step Code;
- Module 4: Identifying the administrative and onsite procedures Energy Advisors are required to complete for new home builds;
- Module 5: Discuss how builders, energy advisors, and building officials work together, and review common issues and best practices.
COURSE MATERIALS
There is no student manual for this course. All course content is contained within the online eLearning course.
COURSE FORMAT
- Review all online course materials in full.
- Write an online final exam (an 80% passing mark on the final exam is required to successfully complete the course).
- If you are unsuccessful on your first exam attempt, you can be granted additional attempts for an administrative fee of $50.00 + GST per attempt.
COURSE REFUNDS & DEFERRALS
This course is non-refundable and non-transferrable.
The course must be completed in full within one year of the initial enrollment date. Any requests for course extensions will incur a standard administrative fee of $150+GST. Course deferrals will provide students access access to the course and final exam for one additional year.
