ENERGY STAR® for New Homes is a new qualification standard to homes in British Columbia and delivered through the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of BC (CHBA BC). Promoted by Natural Resources Canada throughout the country, ENERGY STAR is an internationally recognized brand and a trusted symbol in identifying energy efficient products.

The ENERGY STAR qualification program takes into account the New Energy Provisions for the BC Building Code and homes with the ENERGY STAR label are on average, 20 per cent more energy efficient than those built to building code standards which translates to less energy to operate a home and less in utility bills.

Typical features of an ENERGY STAR qualified homes include efficient heating and cooling systems, heat recovery ventilation systems, increased wall and attic insulation, and ENERGY STAR rated high performance windows, patio doors and skylights.
